Rhinoplasty recovery is intimately involved in rhinoplasty itself. This post operative experience may vary in the actual conditions happen to people but there is still general pattern which can be acknowledged. However, if you are about to experience this as well, it’s still necessary to be ready for certain worse conditions which are quite particular. Usually, a week after the surgery, the patients can already go back to their normal lives but there are still some side effects that last until several weeks or months. However, those side effects are considered as minor so it doesn’t cause great discomfort. Once the surgery is done, the patients should never forget to ask their doctors to provide them with list of emergency contact numbers. This is vital just in case patients undergo severe side effects that are beyond normal range.
Minor side effects during rhinoplasty recovery
As mentioned earlier, patients will experience some discomfort after the surgery such as:
- Bruising
- Swelling
This side effect always happens especially if the rhinoplasty is conducted to repair the broken nasal bones.
- Bleeding
- Puffiness and swollen
The swollen can be treated with cold compress and it usually takes places for about days after the surgery. And for the puffiness, unfortunately, it can last until months especially if the swelling is quite severe.
Those will exist for up to several months but they are actually very easy to manage. The severity of those side effects is varying where it depends on how patients treat themselves. Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid doing something hard after the surgery.
Splint is necessary to keep the patients’ nose in the right position so that it can heal properly. It is usually applied for about a week after the surgery. Perhaps, the splint may make the patients feel discomfort but it is important to make sure that the nose won’t be rotated due to some trauma.
It is very normal when the patients think that their nose looks asymmetrical or crooked during the rhinoplasty recovery. Usually, this only lasts a while until the nose has completely healed. But in some cases, it means that the surgery wasn’t completely successful and this case requires patients to get the minor corrections through revision rhinoplasty. This can happen because patients weren’t sufficiently keeping their heads elevated during the recovery period. So, to avoid it from happening, the patients are highly advised to sleep on their back until their nose is completely healed.
During the recovery period, patients are also required to avoid vigorous exercise for about one to two months. Even if they already feel well, it’s still important not doing such exercise. It’s because such activity can increase the possibility of nose’s damages before the proper healing has finally done. If the patients still insist to do it and they end up
